The seven championships that make up the Men's Series have a distinguished history of hosting the top talent and competitive play in men's amateur golf. These championships are the Sunnehanna Amateur, Northeast Amateur, North & South Amateur, Trans-Mississippi Amateur, Southern Amateur, Pacific Coast Amateur and Western Amateur.

Sunnehanna Amateur

Sunnehanna Amateur

Sunnehanna Amateur Championship has been contested annually at Sunnehanna Country Club since 1936. A long list of notable players have competed in the event, including Justin Thomas, Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus and Phil Mickelson and former champions include Collin Morikawa, Arnold Palmer, Rickie Fowler, Ben Crenshaw, Webb Simpson and Tommy Aaron. The format features 72 holes of stroke play with a cut after 54 holes. The field features 96 of the top amateur golfers.

Northeast Amateur

Northeast Amateur

The Northeast Amateur began in 1962 and boasts many of the top amateur players worldwide with an invitation-only field limited to 92 players. The tournament is conducted over 72 holes of stroke play with a cut after 54 holes. The tournament is known for a strong family feel, and many of the players enjoy being hosted by the members of the host club. Notable former champions include Collin Morikawa, Dustin Johnson, Hal Sutton and Ben Crenshaw.

North & South Amateur

North & South Amateur

The North & South Amateur has been contested on the hallowed grounds of Pinehurst for over 115 years. Many of the game’s greatest icons have won at Pinehurst Resort. In 2014, just one week after Martin Kaymer’s historic victory in the U.S. Open, Michelle Wie captured her first major championship after winning the U.S. Women’s Open on Pinehurst No. 2. The North & South Amateur is one of the longest consecutive running championships in the country. Past champions include Jack Nicklaus, Davis Love III, and Curtis Strange.

Trans-Mississippi Amateur

Trans-Mississippi Amateur

The Trans-Mississippi Amateur Championship is hosted by the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association, which host four championships a year. The Championship has been conducted since 1901 and rotates among some of the countries finest courses including Southern Hills, Prairie Dunes, Olympic Club and most recently Windsong Farm (2021). The tournament includes a 144-player field with 72 holes of stroke play and a cut to low 54 competitors (and ties) after 36 holes. Notable former champions include Jack Nicklaus, Bryson DeChambeau, Collin Morikawa, and Will Zalatoris.

Southern Amateur

Southern Amateur

The Southern Amateur is hosted by the Southern Golf Association and features a 156-player field. The Southern Golf Association is one of the oldest golf organizations (1902) and serves member clubs over a 15-state area. Championship format is 72 holes of stroke play with the event held at notable venues across the association’s membership footprint. Former champions include Webb Simpson, Justin Leonard and R.T (Bobby) Jones Jr.

Pacific Coast Amateur

Pacific Coast Amateur

The Pacific Coast Golf Association has roots dating back to 1901 at San Francisco Golf Club at The Presidio. The event ceased to exist after 1911, only to be reconstituted at Seattle Golf Club in 1967 to attract the USGA out to the West Coast and consider western amateur golf talent for Walker Cup Team selection. The current format features a select group of 84 players, with 45 selected by member associations of the PCGA. It features 72 holes of stroke play with no cuts and various host clubs across the Pacific Northwest, Canada, California and New Mexico.

Western Amateur

Western Amateur

The Western Amateur, conducted by the Western Golf Association, is the third oldest amateur tournament in the world and is renowned for being the toughest test in amateur golf. The 156-player field competes in 72 holes of stroke play, qualifying with two cuts after 36 and 72 holes. The top 16 players then continue on for match play. Former notable champions include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Jack Nicklaus.
