Established in 2021, the Elite Amateur Golf Series (EAGS) unites premier amateur championships in a collective competition known as the Elite Amateur Cup. These events, hosted at prestigious venues, have a rich history of identifying the next generation of champions in amateur golf. The Men’s Series features seven founding championships: the Sunnehanna Amateur, Northeast Amateur, North & South Amateur, Trans-Mississippi Amateur, Southern Amateur, Pacific Coast Amateur, and the Western Amateur. The Women’s Series includes five championships: the Sea Island Women’s Amateur, Southwestern Women’s Amateur, North and South Women’s Amateur, Women’s Western Amateur, and LNGA Amateur Championship. Position: Executive Director/Commissioner, Elite Amateur Golf Series

Reporting Relationship: Reports to the EAGS Board of Directors

Position Summary: The Elite Amateur Golf Series, LLC (EAGS) is seeking an Executive Director/Commissioner to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the organization. This part-time role is ideal for an individual with a deep understanding of elite amateur and professional golf, strong leadership skills, marketing and business development experience, and a passion for enhancing competitive opportunities for top amateur players to drive participation in member events.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy 
  • Serve as the primary leader, advocate for amateur golf in the United States, and public representative of the EAGS, engaging with players, tournament organizers, sponsors, and governing bodies (e.g., USGA, LPGA, PGA TOUR, R&A, NCAA). 
  • Develop and implement long-term strategic initiatives to enhance the prestige and impact of the Series. 
  • Foster relationships with elite amateur tournaments for men and women to ensure ongoing collaboration and alignment with the Series' goals. 
Event & Competition Management
  • Oversee the coordination and scheduling of EAGS-affiliated events to ensure competitive balance and logistical efficiency. 
  • Collaborate with tournament directors to maintain high standards for competition, host site selection, player experience, and operational excellence. 
  • Monitor and enhance the Elite Amateur Cup ranking system, ensuring its credibility and relevance in amateur golf. 
Sponsorship & Partnerships 
  • Identify and cultivate sponsorship and partnership opportunities to support the financial sustainability and growth of the Series. 
  • Engage with corporate sponsors, equipment manufacturers, and other industry stakeholders to boost visibility and funding.
  • Collaborate with each event's existing corporate sponsors to ensure efficiency and cohesion with any new partners.
  • Help secure additional professional exemption opportunities for top Men’s and Women’s Series finishers.    
Marketing & Communications 
  • Act as the spokesperson for the EAGS, engaging with media (linear, digital, and print), golf associations, professional tours, and digital platforms to promote the Series. 
  • Identify, hire and manage a third-party media liaison to ensure professional content and digital assets are created for the Series and each member event.
  • Oversee branding, digital presence, and social media strategies to enhance awareness and engagement.
  • Collaborate with each event’s communications staff and media liaison to create engaging content for social media channels, building a strong online community and increasing followers.
  • Manage a portfolio of creative assets, including imagery, logos, and key messaging for marketing initiatives and sponsorship presentations.
Player Relations & Development 
  • Build relationships with top amateur players, collegiate programs, international golf federations, and governing bodies to support player development pathways. 
  • Ensure EAGS provides value to competitors, such as WAGR points, exemptions, and professional development opportunities. 
Governance & Administration 
  • Collaborate with the EAGS Board of Directors and partner organizations to maintain operational integrity and strategic direction. 
  • Manage budgets, financial reporting, and operational logistics in coordination with relevant stakeholders. 
  • Ensure compliance with USGA and R&A amateur status rules while maintaining strong relationships with governing bodies. 
 
Qualifications & Experience: 
  • Extensive knowledge of the amateur and professional golf landscapes. 
  • Experience in tournament administration, golf governance, or sports management. 
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills. 
  • Proven ability to manage sponsorships, marketing, and partnerships in a golf-related environment. 
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities in a part-time capacity. 
Commitment & Compensation: 
  • Part-time role with flexible hours, depending on event schedules and strategic needs. An estimated 15 hours per week with additional time required during the summer.
  • Remote position, with travel required for key tournaments and meetings. 
  • Compensation: TBD based upon experience and qualifications with potential performance-based incentives related to sponsorship and Series growth. Administration budget for travel, financial management, marketing and media. Benefits are not offered with this position.
